MINUTES
Jim Schuh reviewed the 2009 minutes for approval.  Lori Wilson moved, Mike Fassezke 2^nd – motion passed.

BUDGET REPORT

Ben Handcock reviewed the budget report and cost of sample evaluations.  The Eastern Soft Wheat accounts include $22,629.42 in CDs and $2,178.61 in Checking for a total of $24,808.03.  The budget for 2010 sample submission was approved at $ 12,000 (20 samples).  This is an increase from the 2009 budget of $ 10,000.  Motion to accept the budget was made by Jim Schuh & 2^nd by Brian Walker - motion passed.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS

Nomination for the Secretary position was open to the floor for 2011.  Jim Schuh nominated Ed Sousa, Lori Wilson 2^nd.  Motion to close nominations was made by Jim Schuh, Ben Handcock 2^nd and a vote was taken and Ed Sousa was elected. 

NEW BUSINESS

Mike Fassezke inquired about the apparent 8-10 year trend of lower proteins in Soft Wheats.  General consensus was that this was mainly due to weather and reduced use of nitrogen by growers, not significantly influenced directly or indirectly by breeding initiatives.

PRESENTATIONS

Lori Wilson – 2009 Soft Wheat Crop Tours, Review & Planning –

Noted more participation needed.  Additional Questionnaire to be circulated during March 2010 SWQL Research Review in Wooster, OH.  Considered possible yearly rotation of tour areas.

Edward Souza (for Mary Guttieri) - Arabinoxylan content of mill streams for two 2009 Wheat Quality Council Samples.
